Instrument assisted neurosensory modulation or IANSM is a technique that seeks to change how the body perceives external inputs. Rather than seek a mechanical change by indirect pressure to the soft tissues, IANSM aims to stimulate the nervous system  to reduce the activation of specific groups of motor units within tight muscles thus allowing greater movement.
