post-surgical rehabilitation
Unfortunately, as much as we try and avoid it, there are situations when surgical intervention is required to resolve a particular condition. No matter how good your surgeon is, It is critical to consider post-surgical rehabilitation as a crucial part of your recovery.

A customised exercise program combined with soft tissue mobilisation can help you reduce scar tissue, promote healing, reduce pain and swelling, restore joint mobility, flexibility and strength. This combined can lead to decreased healing time, allowing you to return to your re-injury condition faster.

At Maitland Myotherapy & Sports Massage, we combine proven, evidence-based rehabilitation protocols combined with, experience, and expertise to restore function based on each patient's unique set of needs and conditions. Our goal is to get your back to your pain-free life, without limitations and to help you avoid future injuries.

Post-operative rehabilitation may include or all of the following components:
-
Manual therapy techniques such as massage & dry needling.
-
Pain reduction treatments such as Ice/heat or electrical stimulation (TENS & E-stim).
-
Range of motion and flexibility restoration exercises.
-
Strength building exercises.
-
Proprioception activities to help re-establish balance and co-ordination.
-
Activity modification advice
-
Home Exercise Program (HEP) training
-
It can speed your recovery no matter what kind of operation you've had

It's worth remembering though that the emphasis here is firmly on helping you recover. It is not merely a passive treatment where you lay on a table and have a message to "fix you". Your commitment to following through with your prescribed exercises is what will make the difference.

To help you with this, we will provide you with a state of the art exercise program available through

(IOS and Android)
which provides you with details of your exercises and reminders to complete them regularly.
